About this Project...
Built in 1901, this grand Old West Side house’s kitchen was anything but! The homeowners desired a classic, functional space with an adjacent sunroom. By relocating the back door and removing a utility chase, we were able to carve out additional space in the kitchen without expanding its footprint. Rich cherry cabinetry and floors coupled with polished granite countertops create an air of formality, honoring the character of the house. Daylight spills into the kitchen from a pass-through to the new sunroom, designed to provide easy access to the informal eating area. Expansive windows bathe the sunroom with light, making it the perfect spot to cozy up with a book or enjoy the backyard view. Doorways added between the old and new space create a circular traffic flow, ideal for entertaining or family gatherings. |
