  Above the pool is an “acoustic cloudâ€$ to quiet reverberations. A river of stones is set into the Bath’s floor.

  Atop the Pool Room Addition is a stone patio. Next to the Pool Room a stone walk leads to a hot tub and fire pit.

About this Project...

With their children moving on to high school this family wanted a welcoming place for them to hang out with friends. Of course, mom and dad didn’t want to be left out of the fun either, so this 2006 “Professional Remodelerâ€$ magazine’s “Best of the Bestâ€$ GoldDesign Award winner included plenty of desirable features for them as well.

Having fond memories of family vacations in northern Michigan their idea was to bring some of that northern warmth into their home. The result was a lower level and addition filled with lots of natural finishes as well as places in which to entertain, snack, play games, watch movies, exercise and even swim. Outside, a patio, hot tub and fire pit round out this “northern retreatâ€$.
